Sequoia Capital, Menlo Park, CA, USA is in search of an energetic generalist who wants to have ownership in the development process from product conception, development, and ongoing iteration. This developer will collaborate with internal Sequoia technology and investment teams to define, design, and build tools that connect Sequoia investors to information and to each other across geographies.

Our goal is to create an agile development environment, release early and often, with frequent user feedback. This is largely a Greenfield project where the developer will help select and design the platform, we are partial to Rails but open to LAMP, Python, or anything else.

Experience:

a) 5+ years in web application development across a range of open source tools and platforms.
b) Integration, quickly learning and using APIs
c) Developing highly functional browser-based user interfaces
d) Creating tools that combine information from multiple sources using APIs and standard interfaces (mashups)
e) Learning new technologies and toolsets as needed, quickly ramping effectiveness on new technologies

Skills :

a) User interface: Javascript/ Ajax Ninja
b) Integration, mashups, API consumption and creation
c) Agile development methodology
d) Environment setup and management with any or all of these applications: Linux, Apache, Nginx, MySQL, etc.
e) Clean, self-documenting code.

Knowledge:

a) Coding and testing best practices
b) Current web application technologies, tools, and resources

Qualification:

a) Bachelors degree
b) Master Degree Preferred but not required
